Take this as a sign to check on the Directioners in your life, because Zayn Malik and Louis Tomlinson just snapped a pic together in our good year 2025. A lucky fan caught the former One Direction members hanging out in New York on Sunday, September 7, and grabbed a selfie. It’s time to add “Night Changes” to our Spotify queue, because look at the material...
Naturally, fans lost their cool over the simple interaction on social media. One person wrote, “The world is healing,” while another chimed in, “My ZOUIS heart has been saved!!”
This marks one of the first times Zayn and Louis have linked up since they attended their former bandmate Liam Payne’s funeral last November. They came together to mourn their loss after releasing a statement when Liam’s death was announced in September, writing, “We’re completely devastated by the news of Liam’s passing. In time, and when everyone is able to, there will be more to say. But for now, we will take some time to grieve and process the loss of our brother, who we loved dearly.”
They continued, “The memories we shared with him will be treasured forever. For now, our thoughts are with his family, his friends, and the fans who loved him alongside us. We will miss him terribly. We love you Liam.”
The duo—who is lovingly referred to by fans as Zouis—also had an on-again, off-again feud since Zayn’s departure from the band in 2015. According to the BBC, it all started when producer Naughty Boy shared a social media post with Zayn captioned, “Replace this,” as a dig at 1D in 2015.
Louis then fired back with some shade pointed at the pair’s Macbook selfie, writing, “Remember when you were 12 and you used to think those Mac filters for your pictures were cool haha ! Some people still do HA!” Zayn then responded, “Remember when you had a life and stopped making bitchy comments about mine?”
A few years later, in 2017, Louis confirmed that he and Zayn were on better terms and had put the past tiff behind them. “Me and Zayn have spoken recently,” he explained to Sirius XM, per Teen Vogue. “We’ve got to a point now where, you know, we can just really be happy for each other. Things have happened in the past, of course. Yeah, it’s great. His first song is an absolute smash.”
In case you had any doubts, the pair has been on good terms since earlier this year, when Louis attended one of Zayn’s Stairway to the Sky Tour stops at the Shrine Expo Hall in Los Angeles on January 30. Zayn told the crowd the show felt “kind of special,” as he explained, “An old friend of mine is here supporting me tonight. I don’t want to give his location away, but Louis is here tonight.”
Zouis forever!
